Dr. Hooman M. Melamed is a highly regarded board-certified Los Angeles Spine Surgeon with specialization in the diagnosis and treatment of spinal disorders in both children and adults.
He is a strong advocate for minimally invasive surgeries through an out-patient process. His vast range of other specialties include the diagnosis and treatment of complex cervical spine disorders, degenerative herniations, disc disease of the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar regions of the spine, and revision spinal surgeries. Dr. Melamed is also a specialist in the diagnosis and treatment of spinal trauma and injuries, tumor removal of the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar regions of the spine, and pediatric and adult deformities that include spondylolisthesis, scoliosis, and kyphosis, among many others. Always up-to-date on the latest medical technologies and procedures, Dr. Melamed is also a specialist in XLIF, artificial disc replacements, non-fusion technology, and even stem cell therapy. Graduating Summa Cum Laude from UCLA with an undergraduate degree in neuroscience, Dr. Melamed is also an alumni member of Phi Beta Kappa. After receiving an academic scholarship from the Morris H. and Gertrude M. Harris Foundation, he then traveled to the University of Pittsburgh’s School of Medicine before completing his residency at the University of Illinois at Chicago in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery.
Other milestones in Dr. Melamed’s career include several years of extensive training at such noteworthy medical facilities as Shriner’s Hospital, followed by a fellowship at as Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. It was at Cedars-Sinai that his interest in minimally invasive surgical procedures began to progress. Immediately following his completion of this fellowship, Dr. Melamed received the highly regarded Depuy Spinal Fellowship Award. In addition to his current position as Director of Scoliosis at Marina Del Rey Hospital, this highly regarded Los Angeles Spine Surgeon is also an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at Touro University Medical Center.
